The sick house finally calmed down and my appetite came out, so I decided to go and eat something delicious. My wife quit my job after getting pregnant, and I hardly went out except in the neighborhood supermarket, but decided to go out on a train.

They said, “I’d like to pray for safe delivery anyway” and “I’m worried about going out suddenly.” I decided to go to Kamakura(鎌倉), which can be reached within one hour from my house.

Komachi Street(小町通り) is crowded with people!

Take the train and get off at JR “Kamakura Station” at 10am. The home was full of people despite weekdays. There were many foreigners and junior high school students on school excursions, and I realized again that I came to a sightseeing spot.

First, go north through the ticket gate. As you move along the traffic, you will reach Komachi-Street immediately. We who have been here before have said, “I’m busy today.”

Komachi-Street, famous throughout Japan, is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants along the left and right sides of the road, up to the road to Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine.

Lunch in Kamakura to Akari Dining

As lunch was near and I was hungry, I decided to head to the store, one of my goals this time. Although it is a little west from Komachi Street, I went to a set meal shop called “Akari Dining(アカリダイニング)“. This was my first time, but we decided to go there with a friend who had lunch here before. As expected at noon, the shop was full and everyone was lined up outside.

We lined up for about 30 minutes, and when we entered the store, it was simple and Hawaiian in decor. I ordered “2 pieces of Japanese fried chicken fried set meal(国産若鶏のから揚げ2ピース定食)” and my wife ordered “set meal of mackerel plum fried and onion fried(アジの梅しそフライとオニオンフライの定食)”.

I heard from a friend that this fried chicken was “big”, but it was more than I had imagined. The horse mackerel is also a volumie with two large horse mackerel (with dried plums and perilla in it). Of course I was very satisfied with the taste.

Every meal in Kamakura is a little expensive, but the content is very good.

Directions to Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine(鶴岡八幡宮)

Walk along Komachi Street to Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine, I think you will not get lost. Although it is a big shrine with various benefits, it is perfect for us because it includes “easy delivery”.

I had to climb long stairs to worship, so I climbed slowly with care. It would have been harder if my stomach was getting bigger. There were many elderly people, and everyone was doing their best.

When worship is over, there is an amulet counter next to it. I felt that there were many types and many designs were stylish. I bought a safe talisman here and there was a fortune next to it, and it was full of students on school excursions.

Ginkgo is enshrined as a sacred tree, but the ema was cute in the form of a ginkgo.

Recommended shops for souvenirs

Kamakura Mameya(鎌倉まめや)

One of the things I visited this time was “Kamakura Mameya”. The souvenir bean confectionery is displayed all over the store, so it’s fun just to look at it, but I’m happy to be able to sample a wide variety of bean confectionery.

Ajikura(味くら)

The other is Ajikura. When you come to Kamakura, it is a souvenir you always buy for your parents. You can sample this too, but I always bought delicious burdock and daikon radish pickles.

Classic souvenirs

・ I think that many people recall the souvenirs of Kamakura at “Hato Sabre” at Toshimaya Main Store(豊島屋本店). The packaging has been devised so that the pigeon’s tail does not break, and it seems that the appearance is cute.

Kamakura Ogawaken(鎌倉小川軒) “raisin witch” is a confectionery in which rum raisins and cream are sandwiched between crispy butter sables.

Attractions of Kamakura and Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine

Since my wife was pregnant, I went out on a slow schedule to be comfortable, but I was able to fully enjoy it. Kamakura is quite crowded even on weekdays.

However, what is safe is that there are many restaurants and cafés around the station and on Komachi-Street, and there are several resting places in Tsuruoka Hachimangu.

It was important to have an environment where you can rest anytime, even if you are tired of being crowded and have little confidence in your physical strength.

On the way home, I ate soft ice cream (hydrangea soft) at “Imoyoshiyakata(いも吉館)” near Ajikura(味くら). It was a mix of green and purple, and the combination of matcha and purple potato was surprisingly simple and delicious.

Kamakura has a wealth of gourmet, miscellaneous goods and souvenirs that cannot be fully introduced.

It is attractive that there are many shrines and temples, and Enoshima is also nearby, so it is perfect for those who want to enjoy sightseeing actively.

If the child is born safely, I will go to thank you this time.
